Good Bird
birding for good
Small-group birding tours to coffee farms & beyond across Latin America!
Migratory birds fly thousands of miles every year from breeding grounds in North America to their wintering grounds in Central and South America—and back! Shade-grown coffee farms offer great wintering habitat for some of our favorite species. Often, we drink coffee from those farms without even thinking about how coffee production affects the environment and species that depend on it.
At Good Bird, we see the connections inherent in our world and, if you're reading this, we're pretty sure you do too. We host authentic, small-group tours to visit coffee farms (and sometimes cacao!) across Latin America to learn about coffee production, get an introduction to the local culture, and, of course, see beautiful birds. While at the farms, you will be able to taste and purchase the coffee produced there. You'll make connections with the community, with the coffee, and with the birds who visit the farms.
It's all good.

Upcoming trips!
Join us for 8 days/7 nights to explore birds and coffee in Antigua, Lake Atitlán, and Huehuetenango. We're going to the home of the pink-headed warbler, tody motmot, and resplendent quetzal—get in!
The coffee is exquisite!
Alta and Baja Verapaz are known for their rich cultural and biological diversity. In this 8 day/7 night visit we'll visit some beautiful areas, drink great coffee, and learn how coffee production can help support a village.
Be prepared for beautiful vistas!
This visit of 8 days/7 nights will take us through birdy Belize to the Petén department of Guatemala—home to over 700 species of resident and migratory birds.
We will bird among Mayan ruins, in a community forestry project, and on the second largest barrier reef in the world!
Past trip highlights
Guatemala is very diverse biologically, culturally, and agriculturally. The birding is fantastic all over this coffee-producing country with many shade coffee farms that are home to some of our own wintering migrants, as well as resident species. We visited three coffee farms and three natural areas/parks, saw amazing birds, dined at the foot of picturesque volcanos, had lunch with a coffee-producer family, and enjoyed the vibrant culture of a beautiful country!
